The Big Disability Group believes that everyone should be able to access the information and support that they need when living with disabilities. Being able to easily find the right support for your situation can enhance your life and open up a world of possibilities and that is why we are so passionate about what we do.
Set up in 2017 we have made it our mission to put people living with disabilities in touch with the amazing groups, clubs and organisations out there.
We do this in several different ways.
We post on our Facebook page daily about groups, clubs and special events happening in West Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and further afield. We also have a 'Chat Group' on Facebook with over 300 members which is a great place to share information and connect with others.
Don't worry if you don't have Facebook though - we are also on Twitter and Instagram too!
We can be contacted through private messages on all our social media channels.
We also hold our annual open day at Clydebank Town Hall where we give great groups and organisations a chance to meet the public and showcase what they can offer. The organisations who come along vary from national charities to local clubs and cover everything from health care to financial support to a game of football and meeting new friends.
Our last open day had over 40 organisations ready to connect with over 200 members of the public who came along that day. It's also a great way for the groups and charities to connect with one another and some amazing partnerships have been created from these open days.
Unfortunately covid-19 and the social distancing guidelines have resulted in last years open day being cancelled. We were amazed by all the great work that organisations were doing through lockdown and how they had adapted their services and we felt that our open day should go ahead after all to make sure that as many people as possible could find out about these activities. And so we decided to hold our open day "virtually" here on our website!
It was a great success so we decided to do it again this year!
We can also usually be found at our weekly information stall at Clydebank Health Centre although this has been postponed for now - but don't worry we can still be contacted by phone, email, through social media or through our website and our staff and volunteers are working from home ready to find you the information that you need.
Our health centre stall is not the only way that we reach people living with disabilities or their carers who may not have access to the internet - we also produce a monthly newsletter that we distribute in a variety of ways. We also email or post these out to our members too.

During the coronavirus lockdown restrictions we have also been working on our 'Life After Lockdown' project which focuses on connecting people with groups and organisations just now so that when lockdown is over they will be ready to join these clubs in person.
With so many groups and organisations doing online activities and zoom meetings it is a great way for people to get to know each other and to build confidence for meeting face to face later on when groups and clubs start back up.
